Uma is a political organizer and activist with a STEM background, committed to empowering her community through civic leadership. She holds a B.A. in Computer Science and Public Policy from UC Berkeley and is currently pursuing a Master’s in Data Science, also at Berkeley. Motivated by the 2016 election, Uma has dedicated herself to mobilizing young people and the Asian American and Pacific Islander community.

Uma is a 3-time elected ADEM Delegate and is currently an E-Board Delegate. She was also unanimously appointed to the San Mateo County Democratic Central Committee, where she is one of the youngest members and is the youngest member of the Fund Her Advisory Board. Her political experience includes serving as a 2018 Swing Left Fellow and leading organizing efforts for South Asians for Biden/Harris in both California and Pennsylvania, including volunteer mobilization and operations. Uma has served on the Peninsula Young Democrats Board and sits on a standing committee of the California Democratic Party. She is the co-founder and President of the San Mateo County AAPI Alliance, a chartered Democratic club and 527 PAC. Under her leadership, the Alliance has led voter engagement, supported candidates, participated in AANHPI Advocacy Day at the State Capitol, and organized major GOTV efforts like the 2024 Harris-Walz canvass in Las Vegas.

In her role on the CADEM AAPI Caucus Board Uma hopes to bring local clubs and organizations together to fight for collective causes that affect all of us and help build a broader, stronger, AAPI coalition.

Uma also has a great dog named Kulfi and enjoys baking in her free time.
